General

CX13VD(W) is a carburizing stainless steel for structural applications, such as ball-screws.

Typical Applications

CX13VDW is used in the aerospace industry and industrial applications for:
  • Ball-screws (example: A380 horizontal stabilizer, 787 brakes)
  • Injection bodies for corrosive environment
  • Shafts with parts operating in corrosive environment (sea water).

Characteristics

  • Optimized composition and thermomechanical treatment to ensure carburizing process.
  • Gas quenching possible for reduced distortion.
  • After carburizing, quenching and tempering the surface hardness is around 730 HV.
  • Good toughness of the carburized layer.
  • High level of hardenability.
